Death of a hero
Last week, Pat Tillman who played American football for the Arizona Cardinals before he
quit to join as an Army ranger and volunteer in Afghanistan, was killed in an ambush
there. In 2002, he was offered $3.6 million to continue to play for the Cardinals but
passed it up for a measly $18000 to serve his nation. While anybody killed in action
deserves the highest possible respect, Tillman's acts are worthy of worship. By penning
an entry, I shall be reminded every year that such valour and idealism continues to
thrive in a morbidly skeptical world.
