Five days in Madras
It has been five days since I stepped foot in India. I did not expect much to transform significantly in the last one
and a half years that I was away from Chennai and nothing much has. The Satyam theatre now has an elevated platform
and rather sundry decors. There are flashy time-to-go indicators on all major road signal posts. A profusion of
two-wheelers and four-wheelers has added to significantly higher emission levels. The five-rupee note is antique and
the minimum denomination is the ten-rupee note. Nagesh theatre on Pondy Bazaar road is now a huge wedding hall.
Kurtas and jeans are unisex and brilliantine finds more application on hair.
