Multi-Res Modeling Group

This collection contains meshes used by the Caltech Multi-Res Modeling Group.

These models have been collected from various sources and modified, often to repair non-manifold mesh connectivity.

Dragon

Source dataset

Vertices: 50000
Faces: 100000
Normalized: yes

This model was generated using the topological noise removal method described in Removing excess topology from isosurfaces. The original mesh in the Stanford 3D Scanning Repository is genus 60. After topological noise removal, the resulting mesh has genus 1.

Feline Model

Source dataset

Vertices: 49864
Faces: 99732
Normalized: yes

The feline model is the property of the Caltech Multi-Res Modeling Group.

Femme

Source dataset

Some extraneous geometry was removed.

Vertices: 37249
Faces: 71769
Normalized: yes

This scan was taken in the 3D Photography class taught in the spring of 1998.

Happy Buddha

Source dataset

Vertices: 49990
Faces: 100000
Normalized: yes

This model was generated using the topological noise removal method described in Removing excess topology from isosurfaces. The original mesh in the Stanford 3D Scanning Repository is genus 106. After topological noise removal, the resulting mesh has genus 6.

Headus Skull

Vertices: 20002
Faces: 40000
Normalized: yes

The origin of this dataset is unknown.

Max Planck

Vertices: 25445
Faces: 50801
Normalized: yes

The origin of this dataset is unknown.

Vertices: 10028
Faces: 20056
Normalized: yes

The origin of this dataset is unknown.

Rabbit Sculpture

Source dataset

Non-manifold vertices in the original mesh were repaired.

Vertices: 67039
Faces: 134074
Normalized: yes

The rabbit model is the property of Cyberware, Inc.

Stanford Bunny

Source dataset

The holes in the original mesh have been closed.

Vertices: 34835
Faces: 69666
Normalized: yes

The Stanford Bunny is the property of the Stanford 3D Scanning Repository.

Zander

Source dataset

Non-manifold vertices in the original meshes were repaired. The same normalizing transformation was applied to each scan.

Vertices: 60754
Faces: 119530
Normalized: yes

This series of scans was taken of Alexander Nicholson (PhD CS '02) in the 3D Photography class taught in the spring of 1998. The source dataset contains the original OpenInventor files, and repaired versions which have undergone the modifications above.

Zoë

Source dataset

Non-manifold vertices in the original mesh were repaired.

Vertices: 28439
Faces: 54932
Normalized: yes

This scan was taken of Zoë Wood (PhD CS '03) in the 3D Photography class taught in the spring of 1998.
